Provenio Litigation LLP has continued its expansion by promoting Lucy Baker and Jack Enright as Associates.
Lucy and Jack become the first trainees to complete Provenio’s Graduate Solicitor Apprenticeship programme and qualify as solicitors.
Since August 2022, Provenio’s trainees have enrolled on to the firm's Graduate Solicitor Apprenticeship programme to study for the Solicitors Qualifying Examinations (SQE 1 and SQE 2) with The University of Law (ULaw). Provenio Trainees benefit from the opportunity to specialise in dispute resolution for the whole period of their training contract rather than just 6 months under a traditional training contract and work under the direct supervision of our partners.
During the 2-year programme, ULaw provides subject-specialist support with supervised tuition, guidance and feedback from the university’s team of qualified solicitor tutors.
Congratulating the firm's new Associates, Provenio founder and managing partner, Mark Goodwin said:
“Huge congratulations to Lucy and Jack on their promotion to Associates at the firm. We wish them a long and successful career with Provenio.
“From day one of their apprenticeship, Lucy and Jack took on a high degree of responsibility, under the direct supervision of our partners.
"I would like to thank Hannah Catterall and Emma Charnock for the huge amount of time, guidance and support they have invested in our Graduate Solicitor Apprenticeship programme. They are both fantastic mentors and role models for Lucy and Jack and our future pipeline of trainees to newly qualified solicitors, which is crucial for the team build out over the next few years."
Lucy Baker said:
“The graduate solicitor apprenticeship programme has been an invaluable experience.
"I have had the privilege of being trained by partners Mark, Emma and Hannah who are some of the most influential and experienced litigators in the country. Teamwork is extremely important to Provenio, and trainee solicitors are encouraged to express their views and ask questions to the partners, which has been an indispensable learning experience for myself.
"As Provenio specialises in working on high-value, complex disputes I have felt consistently challenged in the work I have done, which has allowed me to develop a depth and breadth of knowledge in various legal and commercial areas.
"I have also been encouraged and supported by Provenio to take part in business development, particularly within the Liverpool business community. This has led me to take committee positions on both Merseyside Women Lawyers Division and Merseyside Young Professionals, which has allowed me to build my own network at an early stage in my career, and has massively improved my confidence."
Added Lucy:
"Alongside training at Provenio, I studied for my SQE exams with University of Law. Although the SQE exams were difficult, the ongoing training at Provenio greatly assisted me in both my knowledge and skills ahead of the SQE exams. Likewise, the knowledge I have gained in preparing for the SQE exams has been extremely helpful in my training at Provenio.”
Jack Enright expressed similar sentiments. He said:
“The graduate solicitor apprenticeship programme at Provenio has been outstanding training. I have developed my legal skills and been provided with a platform for professional growth.
"Provenio's commitment to fostering a collaborative and open environment is fundamental in everything we do. Trainee solicitors are actively involved in complex legal issues from day one of their training and directly support industry recognised partners. As a litigation boutique, rather than rotating seats through different departments, trainees gain a range of experience within dispute resolution. This has afforded me the opportunity to develop a more comprehensive understanding of our practice area.
"Beyond the technical training, Provenio’s focus on business development and engagement has been impactful. Throughout the apprenticeship, Provenio have assisted me to develop a network within the sector and the wider business community, and I now sit on the board of Merseyside Young Professionals. Provenio is also conscious of the benefit of widening access to the profession, and I have been able to develop contacts at local universities, and engage with future legal professionals."
Added Jack:
"The integration of qualifying work experience with the academic preparation for the SQE through the University of Law has created a great foundation for future success.
"Provenio’s holistic approach to training ensures that apprentices emerge not just as qualified day-one solicitors, but as well-rounded professionals. I look forward to working with my colleagues and clients in my new role, and continuing to develop my professional network in Liverpool and beyond.”
